A beautiful website integrated with Stripe & Plaid to create a simple online donation experience.
Interest for Others encourages generosity and community spirit by giving online banking customers a way to quickly donate earned bank interest to charities they love. In 2013, retired attorney Bill Dolan was struck with that question and a bright idea. Make it easy for people to donate their earned interest to charity, and by adding together their small amounts, empower them to make a big difference for others. That's how Interest for Others Foundation (IFOF) was born. It’s a little way to do a lot of good.
To make Bill's idea a reality, IFOF knew they would need a software development team with a variety of skills to partner with them on their journey. They would rely on technology to engage potential donors online, collect donations electronically, and report donation activity to enrolled charities. All of these tasks had to be automated to cut down on overhead costs and maximize the organization’s charitable giving.
Emergent Software was brought in early on the project to help determine what software tools were the best fit for the job. The team designed an online donation form that could integrate with Stripe and Plaid to enable donors to give using a checking account, credit card, or Apple Pay. Emergent could also develop a website, back the site with a Content Management System to allow for simple site maintenance, and build a database to track and report donations for IFOF and its enrolled charity organizations. Once the IFOF leadership team saw the possibilities of an automated system that could do the heavy lifting for them, the project was full steam ahead!
Built on Umbraco, the easily-customizable CMS based on Microsoft technologies.
IFOF’s website, designed by LN Design Co, beautifully displays how small donations can go a long way. Emergent Software worked with the designers to create a responsive site that features captivating video and animation. The site also adapts to any size device allowing customers to donate from mobile phones. The site can be updated and maintained almost entirely by administrative staff at IFOF thanks to the use of an Umbraco Content Management System.
Just as important as the website is the system behind it. Using .NET and SQL Server, the team built a system that tracks donors and donations, reports account balances for each of the enrolled charities, and uses email alerts to notify appropriate parties of significant giving events. This system provides the transparency charities need to feel comfortable putting their brand on the IFOF website.
Emergent Software is proud to be part of making this unique system a reality. We look forward to helping you figure out how to make your ideas possible too.
